Flags 2048

Match national flags and discover a collection of 13 countries. This version of 2048 replaces numbers with crisp flag artwork, from South Africa’s six-color design to the Stars and Stripes of the United States.

The 13 selected countries are ordered from smaller to larger economies using 2024 nominal GDP in current US dollars. This is a ranking within this collection, not the complete global top 13. GDP measures economic output, rather than population or income per person.

How to play Flags 2048

Use arrow keys or WASD on a computer, or swipe across the board on your phone. All flags slide in the direction you choose. Two identical flags merge into the next country in the collection.

Two South Africa flags (2) create Australia (4); two Australia flags create South Korea (8). Every move that changes the board adds a South Africa or Australia tile. A tile created by a merge cannot merge again during that move.

Reach Germany at 2048 to win, then choose Keep playing to discover China (4096) and the United States (8192). The round ends when the board is full and no neighboring matching flags remain.

Tips to discover more flags

Keep your highest flag in a corner

Pick a corner and build toward it. Arrange your larger tiles along one edge, leaving room for smaller pairs to combine without displacing your biggest flag.

Look for exact matches

Some flags share stripes or colors. Check the symbols and stripe order: France and Italy both have vertical bands, while Germany’s bands run horizontally.

Plan a move beyond the merge

Before sliding, check where every flag will land and where the next tile can appear. Favor moves that free space and bring another pair together.

Your score and discoveries

A merge adds the new tile’s value to your score. Moves counts slides that change the board. Your round, best score, and collection save automatically in this browser, separately from the other themes.

Bright cards show countries reached this round; faded cards show earlier discoveries. New Game resets the board and move count while retaining your best score and collection. Clearing browser site data removes local progress.
