A fresh tile after every valid move

A new 2, or occasionally a 4, appears in an empty square. If nothing moves, nothing spawns.

Only one merge per tile, per move

A newly created tile waits until your next move before it can merge again.

Make 2048. Then go further.

Your highest tile is the goal. Your score counts every merge.

2048

That’s a win

Combine two 1024 tiles to reach 2048. Choose Keep playing to chase 4096 and beyond.

No room, no matches

The round ends when the board is full and no neighboring tiles can merge.

04

Give your biggest tile a home

A little order makes the next move much easier to see.

Keep your biggest tile in this corner.
  1. Pick a corner and stay with it

Keep your highest tile anchored there. Avoid moves that pull it away.

  2. Build a descending edge

Arrange your large tiles in order, like 128 → 64 → 32 → 16. Feed smaller pairs toward them.

  3. Leave yourself breathing room

Empty squares give you options. Before moving, look for the next pair as well as the current one.

This is a useful starting strategy, not a guaranteed win. New tiles appear randomly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did two matching tiles not merge?

They must meet in the direction of your move. Another tile may block them, or one tile may already have merged during that move.

Is my score the same as my biggest tile?

No. Each merge adds its resulting value to your score. Making a 4 earns 4 points; making an 8 earns 8 points. Your score adds all these merges together.

Can I keep playing after reaching 2048?

Yes. Choose Keep playing to continue toward 4096, 8192, and higher tiles.

Do picture themes follow the same rules?

Yes. Merge identical pictures to discover the next design. Each theme has its own saved board and collection.
